Discover the island landscape of Øksningan by kayak. This guided tour offers calm waters, rich birdlife, and the chance to spot majestic sea eagles up close, with a relaxing lunch break on one of the islands.
Join a guided kayaking tour to the Øksningan archipelago, known for its scenic coastline and thriving wildlife. The tour begins at 09:00 at Herøy Kajakk & Sykkel, where you’ll meet your guide and receive all necessary equipment and safety information before heading out on the water.
You’ll paddle mostly in sheltered areas close to land, passing beautiful islands and shoreline. This area is a natural habitat for sea eagles, and sightings are common as you approach their nesting grounds. Midway through the tour, there’s a break on one of the islands with coffee, juice, and a light lunch of baguettes served.
There’s also an opportunity for a short walk up a nearby hilltop for photos of the surrounding landscape before you paddle back to shore, arriving between 13:30 and 14:00. If you’d like to take a swim after the trip, bring a towel and a change of clothes.
Meeting time is 09:00 at Herøy Kajakk & Sykkel, Fagervikveien 172, 8850 Herøy. No prior kayaking experience is needed, and the tour is suitable for beginners. Dress according to the weather and bring swimwear, a towel, and a change of clothes if you plan to swim.
